![]() Well as some of you know I put on a Black Magic electric fan just over a month ago and a Stewart Water Pump. The temps have been higher than normal, and today they were just through the roof. We hit maybe 90-92* today and my temps were about 240-250*. When I got to a buddies house I finally figured out why it was so high. My fan wasn't working. Reason being the Power wire running into the fan control box was unplugged. Went to plug it in and it turns out that the terminal going into the control box broke off. From the looks of it there is no way to put it back in and no way to soder (spelling?) it back on. What can I do about this. I have the next 2 days off and figured I would put the stock setup back on, but it really pisses me off that I spent $200 on this fan it it breaks this easy. ANY ideas on what I can do to fix this? I really need this car to get to and from work. Any help is greatly appreciated. Sorry this is so long.

![]() Okay, a quick fix for now would be to wire in a toggle switch and just kick it on whenever the engine is running. Simple, cheap, but effective.
For the permanent fix, you're going to have to order a new fan controller or do some microsurgery to get it reconnected. If you use solder, get stuff with a rosin core (NEVER ACID!!!) made for fine electrical work and a fine tipped soldering iron. If the controller box is plastic you can probably use the soldering iron to melt away enough of the casing to get to the connection. Hope this helps. Good luck! ![]() ------------------ Capri306, Moderator, The Mustang Works Online 1979 Mercury Capri, 5.0L -- C4 -- 2.73 1987 Mustang LX Notch |

![]() Capri,
How do I get power to the fan in order for the toggle switch to work? Its the power wire that the connector is busted on. Is there a diferent way to get power to the fan. The only way I learned that quickly that the fan wasn't working is because I turned the key to "ON" to see the temp on my gauges and the fan didn't kick on like it usually does. This is pretty frustrating since it is sitting 10 miles from here at a friends house. Thanx for the reply so far. Chris |

![]() Well I know I just installed my Perma-Cool 16" Elec> fan and the !&) degree thermo switch> i also ran a toggle inside so i can manually override the switch if i wanted to you must run run toggle through a relay to prevent all that voltage coming through the switch.
I went with the Perma-Cool over the over priced BLACK MAGIC because I already had the Stewart pump, a Ron Davis alum radiator and with a 195 thermo my car barley ran 180 degrees. Now I have yanked the AC so the radiator will see more air, so I added the Perma-cool($83.00) which pulls 2100cfm at 3000rpms, and I left my 195 thermo in for now, if I need to I will swap it out for the 180. Sorry to hear about your luck with that fan but I saw a post not long ago where a guy had all the blades break off, reason unknown, there were a couple replies complaining about that fan. ------------------ Check Out My Site 91GT,Holley SysteMAX II Kit-Heads 2.02" x 1.60" port matched to a 1262,Anderson N-61,24#,76mm C&L,Full MAC exhaust 1-5/8" Long tubes,2-1/2" O.R H-Pipe,2 1/2" cat back, No A/C or PS or emissions, 12" K&N Filter,RNH PERFORMANCE Ram Air,Ron Davis Radiator,Full Suspension,S&W 8pt "X" brace,JAZ seats,3:73's,Welds..etc,4:30's and 31 splines coming very soon! |

![]() I guess what I am trying to get at is, is there a way to get power back to the fan with this connector broken off? I guess the only way would be to open the box and slice it in that way? When I get it home and off today i will try to take some pictures and see if they will show up on here.

![]() Chris:
I have a temp controller system if thats what you where looking for? I took it out and run it manually because my car always runs hot. Instead of letting it go automatic, I have a toggle switch. It's sitting in my car and not in use if you want it. I don't nkow if thats what you where all talking about or not. - Kevin (A Wild Neg) - AIM: A Wild Neg |

![]() Ok I took a few pictures of the control box where the terminals are. I took it with my webcam so they are not the best pictures, but I hope you can get the idea. Lets see if this works. Ummmm how do I attach the pictures to this message?? hehehe
