Angry my D&D clutch cable just snapped!

Has anyone had any trouble with cables?

I was just on my way home (luckily) and decided to get a little rowdy, so I gave it all she had, but nothing more than I do at the track. Then as I start to slow down, I hit the clutch in and SNAP there goes the clutch cable. Its stuck in 4th gear, but luckily Im just about to turn into my apartment complex, so I cruise in, shut it down, shove it into neutral and coast into my spot. Crawl underneath (that H-pipe gets hot ) and see that the cable is snapped right where it used to be connected to the clutch fork.

I dont know what I'm gonna do. I'm at school and have no tools here whatsoever. My finals are next week as well. Guess I'll have it towed to Indy (1:15 drive) and hope i can find a cable.
Do you think I should even try hasseling with D&D about it, the cable is less than a year old.

There is a lot of stress on the cable and your car is an 88. If its never been changed it was most likely fatigue. Get a good after market version and might as well get an adjustable while you are at it.

When I did my clutch I went to the king cobra cover which has a softer pedal. I feel its easier on the components.

i have gone through 2 clutch cables in my 95, both were ford motorsport though, mine snapped at the quadrant under the dash, before both of mine went the pedal got really hard to push in and felt like it was binding up, i never found anything wrong with the way it was intalled though, so coupe 50 if it feels like its binding buy a new one now and have it on hand, unless its just your clutch thats making yours hard.

I have the motorsport HD clutch, which has a pretty heavy pedal feel, so that probably didnt help.
Also, I had a day at the track recently where I ran about 12 runs ranging from 2500 to 4500 launches on slicks, and shifted it as fast as I could, so i know that wasnt good on the cable either. The 2nd to last run, i felt a pop at the bottom of the pedal travel, and at the very top it was looser than it had ever been, but it still disengaged the clutch just fine.

Anyway, I just went out and bought a advance auto $21 cable and installed it, so everything is fine for now. I'm gonna give Steeda a call (what D&D reccomended doing) and see if i can send them the broken cable for a new one. I dont wanna be using this cheap one for long

Yea i have a motorsport hd clutch, dang thing requires a strong leg, but im used to it, so did your cable bust at the nut? or where it turns into threading for the adjustment at the clutch fork? i know my d&d looks way more sturdy then my burnt stock one.

well the threaded part is gone, so i dont know how close to it that it snapped, but i'm assuming pretty close.

I was looking at the cable tonight, and it actually looks like part of it was broken before, and the rest let go last night. It has 3 main bundles of individual small cables, and 2 of the broken bundles had snapped off about an inch shorter than the other one. So maybe part of it broke that day at the track, and the rest was just waiting for an inconvenient time to break
