Mass Air Conversion
Now that the 88 is all back together and runnign good time has come to start doing some mods to it. The first thing i wanted to do was to convert it to mass air. I know FMS sells a kit to do this but are there any other options? The reason i want to do this is because from what i understand of the EFI system is that to be able to really support other mods and stuff i pretty much need mass air. So if anyone knows what all is needed to swap over i would greatly appreciate it.
And also if anyone has any helpful tips on how to get a little more power out of it. I did the timing, the air silencer is gone and its got power pullies and a nice dual exhaust with no cats. Is there any freebies left? Thanks for all the help guys.

all you need is the ECM out of a 89-93 car either A9L or A9P the hoses bracket to mount MAF and the MAF itself you can either buy the FMS pigtail its 50 bucks or take the pigtail of donor car that you got the Mass air ecm and meter off.. and splice it into the CAR's wiring harness i have the pin numbers and color codes if you need them it took me 40 minutes to do a 87 GT one time.. SIMPLE!!! the FMS pigtail is 50 bucks from Holcomb Motorsports.. it comes with detailed instructions..

if you aren't doing too much to the car then I wouldn't bother with the conversion
the speed density can handle new heads and mild cams and most other bolt ons. you may have problems with a power adder, I'm not sure Dark 5.0 on this site still has speed density and knows a bit about them I still have speed density too and I think I'll wait till I'm pushing almost 400 hp before I do the swap ( unless I have problems ) sometimes you need to pay a little more attention to tuning but for the most part it should work for you
