which rearend gears?

I have a '95 Mustang GT Conv. with stock 3:08 gears. I just got my new 1/4 time of 14.5 with my cold air kit and now my friends are telling me I need gears with the light mods I have done. They say it will really make a difference. Most of them say get 3:73's but I've heard of 3:55, 3:27, and 4:10. My car is a manual 5-spd so which should I go with?

From what i have seen and herd i would go with 3.73's cause they are good street gears and you can still hook up good.But if you are at the track a lot and using slicks or drag radials 4.10's are great.

I have 410s in my 88lx and i love them, you can still drive around town with thos gears dont let anyone fool ya. people told me that i would hate them and i could not use them for around town but if you really want to feel and see the diff: got with 410 you will be glad you did. you just have to get used to them. you might want to bump up in a tire size or two but nothing major! the only reason i say this is because if you plan on droping that baby at 5 grand with thos gears you proble wont hook very well with just the average street tire. just go for something a little wider and you will be fine!

With 410's you'll run out of breath quick with a stock motor, Stick with 373's

I have a 95 GT Vert AODE, and 3.73's. They are very nice, having not driven anything but the stock 3.27's it came with, it was a nice improvement. at 80mph, I am pushing 3000rpm's. Our heavy cars like the different gears. I say 3.73's for the 5 sp for sure.

Another vote for 4.10's here. I went from 14.4 to 13.9 on street tires. I am running out of gear on the spray at the end of the track, but I'm just gonna bump it up a tire size.

hey i had a couple of stangs two of them with 373 and one with 355 i like the 355 with 373 u have to push the motor to the top of the rpm to make through the traps a stock motor only good to 5200 any way by the way all of are cars have ran low 13 with stock motors no port work but one had 410 and it picked up with 355 but 373 or 355 are great gears and there is only a few hunder rpms diff between gears in 5th

I have 3.73's under my '95GT Conv. 5-speed and they are perfect. I also have a fox with 3.55's, so I know how much different they are. As you also have a conv., definitely 3.73's. 4.10's would be okay if you rarely see interstate speeds. My .02 cents.

My 90 Notch has the dreadfull 2.73's, I want to change them, but I drive over 80 miles each day on the highway. Everyone seems to love the 3.55's but would the 3.27's still work ok? or would there be very little MPG diff between the two? The 2.73's are so tall I cant run as much in 5'th compared to the stock 91 with 3.08's I used to have. 55 MPH is below 1500 rpm, no guts at all, 3rd goes over 100 MPH.

With even the cheap gas going near $2.00 a gallon, cant see going to the 3.73 or 4.10's
Maybe if I swap in a T-56, oh, was I dreaming again?

Go w/ the 3.73's, unless you're going to add a blower, then go w/ 3.55's.
