Am I thinking realistically?
I'm ordering Crane HI6 ignition and coil and longtube headers. Hopefully this weekend I'll be installing them along with a set of 1.6 roller rockers I got a while back.
Now here's the question. With the mods and ET I have already (listed in sig), do you think the addition of the above listed parts will get me into the 13.1 range? I've also added drag springs and struts since the run in the sig. I'm thinking a 13.1x should be possible. I have my runs video taped and you can hear the slicks spinning on the launch and 1-2 shift. So base your opinions on the fact that I will have new slicks when I go to the track. Now fire away at me! John

The parts you listed won't make you 2 tenths quicker.
Take care, -Chris

What psi were the slicks at? how good of a burnout did you do to heat them up? What were your 60ft times? some of these might help you get the car a little faster Whats the timing set at? with all the right tuning and good traction you might be able to hit the numbers you want or maybe faster with the new parts...

I disagree........HIs 60ft is not good for slicks. All you have to do is knock 1 tenth off of your 60 ft and there will be your 13.1.
Your new drag suspension parts will help out on the launch and you will be making a little more power with the Longtubes. If it were my car I would be hoping for a 12.9..........with practice you should be able to get yuour 60 ft down to a 1.7. Its in tha bag! Later,

My 60' was a 1.84 on the 13.300 @ 102.49 run. I didn't know how worn out the slicks were while I was using them. With a helmet on and the windows up I can't hear much of anything. On top of that I'm usually paired up with a 9 second open exhaust beast that makes it impossible to hear my car at all. But on the video you can clearly hear them spinning on the launch and into 2nd gear. PSI was at 14 in the slicks, 40 in the front. Timing was locked out at 38º. Fuel was set at 41psi w/vacuum line off. I started out at 36º, but got more MPH at 38º and ran out of time that day for any more testing. I even tried lower fuel pressure, but lost MPH immediately. Again, I didn't get to try any higher on fuel either.
The season before I was able to nail a 1.76 60', but that was on the totally stock suspension with a little more tread on the slicks. On that run, I missed -cough- 4th -cough- gear. LOL Ended up with a 13.42. So, what do you think? New suspension, slicks, and the new parts: better than a 13.3 next time? Thanks for the replies so far! John

Sure, why not! i was referring to the driveline parts, not the suspension parts, when I said they wouldn't knock off 2 tenths.
Make sure you tell us how you do!!! Take care, -Chris
