![]() I recently rebuilt my engine, bored to 306ci, new pistons, rings, bearings. On the valve cover where you pour the oil in, the spout that is on the side has nothing hooked on it, smoke comes out of it, it smells. My #4 plug has some oil on it. There is no smoke from the exhaust. When I remove the oil filler cap there is some milky substance inside on the edges. Before I tear it down again, what could be wrong?

![]() coolent+oil= milk shake, most of the time the head gasket is the blame. Check your coolent leval if your oil is milky you coolent should be low. The spout on the valve cover connects to a vacuum hose. If you have oil on your plugs it could be that the rings are not seated, or a bad valve guid.

![]() Sounds like Wade is thinking the same as me. Check the radiator for signs of oil floating around in the coolant and drain the oil to see if there is signs of coolant in the pan. If so I'm sorry to say you have a blown head gasket. Although, it could be something as simple as a manifold gasket leaking. Did you but RTV around the coolant passages on the intake gasket?

![]() No i skipped the RTV on the intake gaskets, I never thought they'd give me a prob. My valves are noisy on the pass. side of the engine (bad valve seating?) But I suspect a blown head gasket as well.
