What they found was the single camshaft could NOT take the pressure of the added valves, and it would snap. ![]() There is a prototype 4 valve 302, the pic is from right here in the Mustangworks.com media center. If you were to design a DOHC engine, on the same block as the Windsor, you'd need to setup a completely different ignition system, the distributor would have to go, the engine would be an absolute monster in size, and it would be heavier than the old big blocks. So you could do it, without redesigning the engine block, but you'd have to redesign the car it went into. |
