Default procharger problems

I presently own a 95 mustang gts, it has the following mods, trick flow intake, victor jr. stage 2 heads,50# holley injectors, cam motion cam,dss pro shortblock with main support, mac long tube headers, off road h-pipe,flowmasters,msd 6al,aeromotive fuel system #8feed #6return,coversion harness to run 86-93 9al computer, tremec tko transmission, centerforce clutch,3.73 gears,6 point roll cage, southside lower control arms, and a D-1 PROCHARGER. The problem I'm having is belt slippage, I've tried everything from 8 - rib pulleys from mikes mustangs to custom tensinors. The slipping won't go away. I've contacted ATI several times and they just make excuses, the system is supposed to make 14lbs of boost on my car but I'm lucky if I see 8-9lbs. If anyone has had a problem like mine and found a solution I would appreciate any input you have I'm totally disgusted with this system and dealing with ATI.

How do you know that the belt is slipping? (other than you're not seeing enough pressure)

The reason I ask is that it appears that your car is heavily modded and more importantly, your engine is 'breathing' very well. Therefore, you may not see the advertised boost levels based on pulley diameter. This doesn't mean that you car isn't making power, but rather it is using fuel and air very efficiently. Have you tried switching to a smaller pulley? What about a 12-rib belt? I know ProCharger has them on some of their newer kits to eliminate belt slippage.

I'm interested in hearing your response as I'm really leaning towards a D-1SC for my new 331.

Thanks,
E

Default 302 LX ERIC

The problem is the engine compartment is tighter than the 86-93 mustang the 95 mustang system has too use a single belt to drive blower and accesories.I already have an 8- rib up grade on all accesories and blower and a custom tensioner.I also have 5 different pulleys ranging from 15 to 20 lbs according to mikes mustang and ATI. If I could use a seperate belt to drive the blower I don't think I would be having this problem. I was misinformed by ATI when I made this purchase.Th e whole problem is the bracket and the use of a single 8-rib 10 foot long belt. This application doesn't allow the D-1 to perform like its sister kits.

You migth have better luck than I did with the PROCHARGER. I'm assuming you have a 86-93 mustang, if you do you can put a 12 rib belt or a cog belt.I don't have those options,if I did I wouldn't be having my problems.

Where did you get 8 rib pulleys for all the accessories? I ask because the Novi 1000 that I ahve also uses a single belt. The blower is supposed to be good for 15 psi, but I have a larger crank pulley and a smaller blower pulley and have seen 10 psi once. Usually I see around 8. I get 8 psi @ 4000 or so RPM, then it just plateaus.

jason - Yeah, I've got a 91 LX Coupe, so I should be able to get the proper setup on the belts. Sorry to hear that you can't. I didn't know that the 94-95's had less room.

You may want to try calling LaRocca's. They're ProCharger experts. I spoken with Jim a couple times and he is very helpful and knowledgable. You can find them on the web at www.laroccas-performance.com Hopefully, they can help you out.

Take it easy,
E

Default I can relate to Jason's Vendor issue

I once purchased the Track Heat Intake from Trick Flow and the Motor lost HP and some Torque on the Dyno in comparision to the GT-40.

Called TF and they said it was not the proper Intake for my Setup, and I got allot of run around from Them about it. I was very mad at them at the time, becuase I spent a long time on the phone with them explaining every detail about my motor and they told me exactly what intake I needed from them and then for them to turn around and tell me they told me it was the wrong recommendation! So even tho they admitted they made an error in recommendation, they wouldn't lift a finger to fix it. Their big issue was that they wouldn't take it back because I had it port matched to my heads. So, like many customers it comes down to someone eating a loss, and it ended up being me the customer. They could have taken it back from me and refunded my money and then sold a fully ported intake to someone else at a discounted price. Instead, that is what I had to, I sold the TF eventually and bought a Down's Box Upper and it was the right one

Anyway, I have done business with TF on other things, but for whatever reason, my number came up to have a bad customer/product experience with them with the intake, leaving me wondering if this was the same company I had done business with when I originally bought the product. Talk about a Jekyll and Hyde switch.

I still like their products, and am extremely happy with their Street Heat Heads I bought years ago. Overall a quality company but even the best of intentions can go terribly wrong.
