The FMS is one of the most durable out there, I wouldn't change mine until the disc is worn out. BTW mine has a lot more than 12,000 miles without a slip. The King Cobra isn't as durable, it just has a lighter pedal pressure and the Ram is listed as "not for use with slicks" although I think they're just trying to keep lawsuits off their backs.
If your really concerned then just get a CFDF disk and use it with the FMS pressure plate, Ford even reccommends this.
