Default aod rebuild cost?

My '92 gt aod transmission needs a rebuild,anybody know much roughly what it would cost for a standard rebuild and a performance rebuild?I have to have a shop do this.I can't do it.

If you could make it work with your 92 I have a perfectly good AOD out of an 88GT that has been sitting in my garage for abour 7 months now. There are some differences though between the 92 AOD and the 88 AOD, so you might want to make sure it would work first. But I have also rebuilt AOD's by myself with good results, the rebuild kits aren't that bad either.

For what it would cost for a shop to do all the work you could swap in a t-5. I did that to my 93 except I used a tremec 3550. Best thing I ever did to that car.

I think it depends alot on where you live... I had mine rebuilt a couple months ago, here in MA... and it ran me about 950 afte tax and everything... and that's with 12 months 12,000 miles warrantee... though here in the NORTHEAST we're at the top of the scale of parts and labor... I know stuff alot cheaper elsewhere in teh country... so I wouldnt pay more then 950
