Ported Heads?
Can you port and polish stock heads and intake and get any power from them?

absolutely you can. Sometimes make just as much power as you could with aftermarket versions. The E7TE heads suffer bad from flow potential so any porting and polishing will greatly help them. Most people port and polish their stock heads when they don't have money for aftermarket versions. So yes you can.

Those pics were taken before I had them milled 30 thousanths.
I knock off 7 tenths and picked up 5 mph with the ported and polished heads and an explorer intake. I have a total of 650 dollars in the heads and intake combined. My heads are ported to the max, and I must say I am happy with the results. In other words.............Go for it Later,

Did you port your own or have them ported for you?
I could do it myself this winter (but I'd still have the stock intake), is it worth it? |

I bought my heads already ported and polished off of E-bay. I paid $200.00 for them I then took them to the machine shop and had them milled and I also had them put a 3 angle valve job on all the valves why I was at it I had them install some trick flow springs. I have a total of $450.00 in the heads.
I trap 101 mph with an 88GT vert with stock cam and rockers @3000ft. So I would say without a doubt it is worth it. If I were you I would just buy some already ported ones off of ebay like I did, they are on there all the time. Then get them milled down to bump your compression a little bit. With the stock intake I imagine you would still see some good gains. Stock my car trapped 88mph. After I installed the ported heads, explorer intake, full exhaust and gears I trapp 101. Pretty good bang for the buck if you ask me. Later,

How would you know if porting would help or not. I want to learn to port heads and would like to do it on my 1994 V6 if it would be worth it. So I know how to do it when I put the 351W in next summer.
