How can I tell if....
How can I tell if a block has been bored for standard rings or chrome moly rings?
I have most of my engine torn down and noticed it was bored .030 at some point in the past. I don't know what type of rings it was bored for. Since I don't plan on boring it anymore I need to know how it was bored before. How can I tell?

I do not know what the differance is for standard vs chrome molly. One thing that did catch my eyes is " I dont plan on reboring" ultimately you have the final decision. But the block needs to be checked for proper clearance. I build outboard motors every day. We build them OUR WAY or we don't build them. This sounds harsh, but it will last longer, run stonger, and make you happy in the long run, if it is done right. Chances are it may not need boring, or replacement, but have it checked.
