Default Casting Numbers on Block Help

On the block about where the starter is there is a large.... "21"
Then a "E6SE"...Then "BA" and finally a horizontal "S"

Can someone help me decode this????????

it's an '86-'93 5.0L, but for the exact year, you need the date code.

I just did a seach and found that block was an E.F.I. roller tappet block with the standard 302 firing order from came off one of the following cars:

Cougar, Mark VII (exc. LSC), T-Bird

I just pulled my intake manifold to see what numbers were cast in the lifter valley. I thought all 302's had just that casted in the valley. Mine actually has three XXX's on either side and the ford emblem with a "SB".

Anyone have any clues to what the three XXX's are? Is it not a 302 block?

The SB most likely stands for 'special block'. The X's are stamped in for quick and easy identification that these are special blocks. Most often a special block is marked when different casting procedures are tried, or different metal compositions.
