Too rich at WOT? Please help
Hello all. 86 gt ver.--(multiport inject, eec4 comp)
MY boss was following me in his semi-hopped up wrx, and I stabbed the gas. His comment when we got back is that I practically killed him from the exhaust. I always assumed it was oil burning, but now that I think about it, maybe it isn't. 173k original miles, valve covers never been off. Recent tune up with new plugs, wires, cap, rotor. The inside of the exhaust pipe gets VERY black, and the bumper cover above the pipes get real black after a few days. What do I check? what do I do? My milage probably averages only 11mpg or so.

BTW, the only mods are the clutch, tranny, air filter, silencer, flow masters, timing, etc.

When's the last time that you changed the O2 sensors? If you never have, start there.

OE-Original Equipment 02's. Is there a way to test them? Last time I checked I think they were expensive right?

They'll run you about $120. You'll be amazed at how much better your car will run after replacing them. You should also reset your computer after you replace them so that it can relearn the fuel data.
You're WAY overdue on replacing them so I wouldn't worry about testing them. I don't think there is a test that goes to that level anyway.

What were your test results? Did you barely pass or pass with flying colors? The CO and HC numbers would be on the high side if O2 sensors were bad.
Post your test results and what the passing values should be.
