Exclamation Pep Boys Doesn't Sell a 3-core Radiator for 5.0's?!?!? Need quick response

I called the store in Eastpointe and he said all they have are 1 or 2-core radiators. I asked if they ever sold a 3-core, and he said yeah, but only for certain truck models.

What the hell is going on? I believe all you guys that say you bought a 3-core there. Is this guy wrong or are they really just heavy duty 2-core radiators.

I was going to go and pick one up today, but now I don't know what to do.

Well the one i bought from pep boys is twice the size of my stock one, it may only be a 2 core, dont know, they asked if i had AC and i said yes, so they recomended this heavy duty one, it is big and works fine for any stang, modded or not, and best of all its only around 100$

o but i had to modify the hold down brackets a little, no problem though.

Alright MTU 50,

I checked my receipts and this is what I found:

Part# 43-31-38
GDI (Go/Dan) Radiator (w/ Maximum cooling)
$99.99 (although I bought mine for $159.99 ~2 years ago)
*receipt doesn't specify if it's 2 or 3 row radiator and the guy I talked to at Pep boys couldn't tell me if it was or not*

But it IS A 3-Row Radiator.

1) Check out this web site at GDI (Go/Dan). http://www.autopart.com/radiatorinfo/catalog.htm

2) type in your make, year. Hit next, then select model and hit next.

3) The next page shows all you selected and about mid page to bottom it says: "Enter GDI Radiator part number in the field below to see a picture of that part."

4) Enter 3138 (it already has the 43 for you) and hit SEE PICTURE button.

That is the one Pep Boys sold me and the one they still sell for $99.99 and it is 3 row. It has treated me very well for a non-aluminum radiator (NO overheating problems)

Hope that helps...

Should I still get one for A/C, even if I am removing the a/c.

I pulled the radiator today and I'm wondering if I can remove the condenser (thing that looks like a radiator and is in front of the radiator), and the Accumulator (Where the a/c lines connect to).

BTW, thanks guys and....

Do you know if it has fittings for the Auto trans cooler lines. It looks like it does in the picture, but I can't tell. I'm going to call pep boys again tomarrow and run that part # and brand by them.

Try Summit, they have several radiators for Mustangs. And yes you can remove the condensor. Once the compressor is opened to the atmosphere, might as well take the condensor too.

Yeah I would go ahead and get the one for A/C b/c somehow I think that one is equipped for better cooling. Only difference is that it has an extra line spout that comes with a plug you can use (but maybe that's the only difference so maybe you don't need to. I would just ask them to show you both and then make your decision from that)

I removed my condenser for better air flow to radiator and less weight (HA! less weight, that's almost a joke. That condenser has gotta be less than 2 lbs--much lighter than I thought). I don't have air now so it's just a waste of space. Very easy to remove.

I'm about 90% sure if it has the fittings for trans cooler, but if you go to PEp Boys, you can see for yourself.

I bought mine from advance auto parts it's a 3 core with fitings for an auto trans and it's made by modine. I paid about $150 for it and it has no problem keeping my 347 cool.

Yeah today, I went to Pep boys and talked to the service manager and got the previously mentioned GDI radiator for $99.99. I assume it is a 3-row, since it has the same part # as the one listed above and on their computer this one was the one with maximum cooling as opposed to a stock replacement. This thing is twice as wide as the old piece of junk I pulled out, so I'm pretty optimistic that it will work good.
