Default pulleys for looks or for power

just a couple of questions first off this may sound a little dumb but pulleys are the things that qull the belt right. adn if so by replacing them with aftermarket pulleys is there really a horsepower gain or is more for looks

the pulleys are for a power increase. what it does is kind of like changing gears on a 10 speed bike. the crank pulley is reduced in size and the accessory pulleys are increased in size to rid the motor of some drag of the accessories. it is one of the greatest bang for the bucks, but expect to do a little charging and cooling work on your car

I'll add.. that you can replace pulleys for both reasons.... as the reason stated in the last post, you can gain some power by effectivly making it easier for your engine to drive all the other accessories... but again like that last post stated... it makes your accessories spin slower... wich means, your water pump will be slower and your altenator.. on a stock car, it's a nice boost... but if you have a big stereo... you might find that the alternator cant keep up.. just keep that in mind...

but while you're replacing pulleys for power, you might as well get nice shiney billet ones.. or whatever tickles your fancy.... you can get them in just black too... if you like to keep the engine compartment alittle more LOW profile...
