Default Crane Coil

Im pretty sure my coil has gone bad considering it is the original 13 yo peice with 100,000 miles on it. Is the Crane PS91 coil a good one for a lightly modded mostly stock stang? My mods are in my user listing.

That is an excellent coil, and would be my first recommendation. Try to avoid MSD coils. While MSD makes fine products, their coils have a tendancy to become "loud", generating an often annoying buzzing sound.

Take care,
~Chris

Chris is right, the MSD is loud. My father-in-law just got one and it is very loud.

I have the Crane PS-91 and it works perfectly.

well i just bought the MSD blaster TFI. None of the local stores around here sell the crane one so i figured this would be fine. i would have ordered it through summit but i needed it by friday so i just went ahead and bought it. I dont think the buzzing sound will bother me because i always have the music turned up

Yeah my MSD coil buzzes, it's kind of weird for people to get in my car and not know what it is.

Cool

Nah it's not really that bad it got annoying when I had stock exhaust. Now I've got headers and 2 Chambers dumped at the axle out of a prochamber, you can't even come close to hearing it.
It's just "weird" it like sits there and buzzes

It can be pretty bad, but it's your call. Keep in mind that MSD coils are often quiet when first installed, and then gradually get loud. Others are loud from the get-go, and about 1 out of every 10 actually stay quiet.

Take care,
~Chris

I was about to order an MSD coil for my '90 LX, but now im hesitating. Is it really that bad? I won't have a full exhaust until spring, it the buzzing bearable? And why does the MSD make so much noise?

Mine is noisy, it isn't THAT bad, but why bother. There are many good coils out there, FRPP, Crane, Screamin' Demon, Accel.......I love my MSD stuff, but I will never buy another MSD coil and neither will my family or close friends.
