Help i'm stuck, need suggestions!
Ok I have a alright modded 90gt but i'm stuck on the tranny its grinding goin into 2nd, I just had a clutch installed to, it only grinds into goin into 2nd and I cant afford a performance tranny, I do have someone that says they'll rebuild it for about $400-$500 depending on how fucked up it is, Ive seen the rebuild kit but I work way to much and hardly have time to even maintain my car let alone replace a tranny someone please help, is there anyway I can buy the internals from a performance tranny and have someone install them in my stock beat up T5 , This car is my daily driver and id like to goto the track maybe 2-3 times a year and still be fine to drive everyday someone please help me out i'm on a tight budget and need to do something with this tranny soon.

most likely your synchro's, worst case is that your 1-2 slider took a dump too. if you have time i would do it yourself and save a whole lot of money, you can get the step by step video tape from hanlon motorsports for like $20.00. thats what i did with my tremec, and it works perfect!

Definitely the synchros, I have the 2nd gear, slider and synchros from my trans rebuild a few months ago sitting on my desk right in front of me. You might be able to buy the parts and have someone do the work, but most mechanics won't do that unless they're working on the side. If they do they probably won't give you a warranty on it. Unless you know a trans guy you might be better off buying a rebuilt and either swapping your old one as a core, or selling it as one.
FYI it's a hell of a lot easier to swap a tranny than it is to rebuild one. After you drop the h, all you have to do is pull eight bolts, 4 on the D/S and four that hold the trans to the bellhousing, one bolt for the speedo gear and pull the cross member. I pulled my T5 3 times last summer, the trans is easy, the clutch can be a pita. I'd highly recommend going with a 3550 or TKO if you can find a deal or you can afford it. Just my .02
