![]() A few months back I picked up a T5 out of a 85 or 86 mustang . I plan on putting it in my 67. If I put it behind a 302 with the performer RPM package (website dynos say 367 hp and 340 ft/lbs) will it stand up to this on the street? Any comments will be appreciated. AJ

![]() As long as it is a T5 from a V8 mustang it should be fine. The four cylinder T5's are supposed to be weaker but look the same except for the input shaft I've read.

![]() It won't last long. The pre-90 T-5's were very weak. The 90-93's were stronger. The strongest is the Z-Code from the Ford Racing catalog. It's torque rating is 330 ft-lbs. I would go with a Tremec.

![]() Thats about what my car makes and my t5 lasted 1 year. I never powershifted or took the car to the track. I do have drag radials but still, you may look into a tremec like previously stated.
Hope this helps

![]() A friend of mine has a 93 saleen with s-trim heads/cam drag radials, he dynoed 480 rwhp and still claims to have the original t-5, i believe him, he is a very honest guy, and good friend of mine, he doesnt powershift, and never has, the car has always had over 350 hp since 1994 when he bought it.
just saying, sometimes they last longer than expected.

![]() it all depends, my t5 blew on a 13 sec pass. but my buddies has ran strong for 2 years now RUNNING 11'S. i guess it all comes down to how you drive and how lucky you think you are.
a good shifter is the best insurance for a transmission |

![]() Exactly, some 15 sec cars may blow them, and i have another friend with a 347 and zt-5 the synchros are toast, but it is driveable after maybe 30 12 sec passes.....they are plentiful around here when a rebuilt one is needed, so i just keep pressing my luck.
