Default will 26x11.5 et street fit?

on a 95gt will a 26x11.5 (the tire is actually 12" wide) fit without rubbing. i also have a granatelli rear coil over setup, and the quad shocks removed. its on a 15" rim

?#2- do i want to set the rear right (pass. side) shock at xtra firm, or soft? i think its firm but i just want to make sure.

thanks

Great questions (I'm going through similar issues now!)

I spoke with Bogart Racing Wheels yesterday and they said that for my application (15x9 wheels w/MT ET Streets 26x10.5) that they will rub the inner fender well. They said that I would have to roll the outer fender lip to clear and that everyone does this and it's pretty easy to do. Although, I have no idea how to 'roll the outer fender lip'

So with your 11.5 tire, I think you will definitely have clearance issues - although you're on a 95GT - so there maybe a little more room back there than on my 91LX.

Sorry if I was of no help.

I ran some MT ET Streets 26x10.5 on some turbines last year. I didnt have any rubbing issues.

i used to run 26x10.5's on my 89 w/10 holes and had no rubbing problems

my buddy has a 94gt that he runs a 26x10.5 on and he has no rubbing issues, i just dont know if the extra 1.5" will make a diff. i guess i could just look at his car and see how much room there is.

Interesting and good news too. I'm just wondering why the guy at Bogart was telling me that I'd have to roll the lips then? Weird.

Thanks for the info.

If you were wondering how to do this. I did it on my '84GT years ago to fit some fat rubber in the rear. Use a "wooden" baseball bat to literally, roll the fender lip. It worked well for me and gave me the additional clearance I needed.

I ran 28x12.5 M/T ET Streets on an 8" Bogart rim with minor rubbing on my LX. I broke out with a die grinder on the outer fenderwell/lip and used a BFH on the inner fenderwells... they would still rub a bit on the street when I hit a bump, especially with a passenger.

What I wanted to point out though, is that the 12.5's actually measure 10.5 inches of tread width...

I think the 26x11.5's will work just fine on your '95... even with what you've described for other parts. What rim width are you going with sn95gt?

Eric, what backspacing are you running with the 15x9's? I don't see where you'd have a problem with the 26x10.5 ET Streets. Maybe the guy at Bogart was thinking a 10.5" slick rather than an ET Street... i.e. My 28x10.5's ET Drags are essentially the same size as my 28x12.5 ET Streets

Later,
-Ryan

On question #2... If you aren't running an anti-rollbar, set the right (pass.)side a little stiffer than the left (driv.) side. The only way to determine what really works is to go to the track and experiment

i am probably going to run prostars 15x8 w/ 5.5 backspacing. the actual width of a 26x11.5 et street is 12" (im pretty sure, correct me if im wrong) im going to stay with the 26" tire though, i only have a 3.73 gear, so the 28 probably wouldnt work to well till i get a taller gear. im kinda torn between the simplicity of a blower and the power of a turbo(and lack of abuse on the crank) so if i do go the turbo route i want to keep the 3.73 and just run a 28" tire to tone the gear down, but if i go blower im definitely going to put at least a 4.10 or 4.30.

i dont have an anti roll bar as of yet.........im thinking about getting one but i dont know if its really going to help all that much, plus it will be driven to the local street racing spots. and i have heard that it doesnt fare to well on the street.
did yours help a lot???

thanks

Bust out the tape measure and get me a spec on the tread width of that 11.5" ET Street... no way the tread width is 12"

The anti-roll bar will make your car launch straight and flat ...they work wonders. You can disconnect the linkage for street duty, if you want.

...is that the LaRocca/Freedman Renegade car in your avatar?

for the tire size i was just looking on summitracing.com and they had a list of the actual tread width (i dont know if its accurate or not) you know more about the width than me

i found a used trz anti roll bar for $175 i think i might pick it up, and do like you said and take the linkage off for the street

thats the car

I was thinking that the 26x11.5 ET Street was the same size (tread width) as a 26x9 ET Drag... I don't know why they (m/t) do it that way. (???)

I'm happy with the TRZ unit I installed on my 'stang... I really like Wolfe's stuff as well. If I were to do it again, I would probably give them a try.
