Default H pipe or X pipe?

Just wondering what it is that they do, and which is better?

Its about flow and mufflers, I remember reading an artical a while back in MM&FF about them, you are suppost to use one kind of pipe with a chambered muffler and the other with straight through mufflers, but I cant remember which is what. Me personally Ive got a H pipe with mac flowpaths, but I dont know if thats the right crosspipe/muffler combo or what

Thanks for the reply. I just bought the car 4 days ago and just put some flowmaster mufflers on. Just asking because every person I know that has a mustang always talks about an off road H-pipe, and I just didn't know what it did. Does it increase HP and make for a meaner rumble?

I'm new to this, so forgive me if i ask some dumb questions. Wanted a 5.0 since I was 17, and saw a chance to grab one at a pretty good price.

Again, thanks for the reply!

When youre new to these things there isnt such thing as dumb questions, lol, Im still learning about them and Ive been around them for a while.....on the off road h pipe, I think most people run those with flowmasters, so wouldnt be a bad set up, the off road ones are cat less, which would make a few more ponies, if its legal or not where you are might be something else, but someone will always inspect those I love my dealer ship job! hehe, good luck with the car, feel free to ask for help

Thanks for the input. I'm just looking for ways to increase HP's without the "over kill." I already put a K&N filter in her, the flowmaster mufflers, and BOSCH 4 platnum plugs. I am looking to put headers on, any suggestions as to what brand?

bbk makes a nice shortie, that wouldnt be a bad install, might consider pulleys, those arent too bad of an upgrade either to pick up a couple hp

I have an automatic, do I have to get a special kind or does that not matter? And, is this going to put a dent in the ol' wallet as far as installation goes? Since I am mechanicaly retarded, this is quite a hinderance.

About all youre really doing is replacing the stockers because they are the same length, hints the name shorties....installation I have no clue, Since Im reasonably mechanicly able to work on my own crap, isnt bad, hehe, and if you lived a little closer to home Id help you with them! lol, considering the boat your in, Id call around a little and see who has good prices....

Haha!! Ok, everything you just said (with the exception of the flowmasters) might as well have been in Chinese! And as far as the "having money" issue goes, I'm a full time student..haha! I just happen to have a sugar mama!!
