Default Manual Rack

I am tired of the power steering leaks and I really don't want to pay the $300 plus for the falming river rack and kit. Is there a year model mustang or capri, or any car for that matter, I can go to an auto parts store and get one for? Even a junkyard would do me fine. I have a leak and I can't figure out where it is coming from. I have to fill up just about every time I get back in my car.
Thanks in advance for the suggestions.

Caymon

If you cant find anything I have a Flaming river Rack and all that you need to change it over for $300 plus shipping. That includes all the shafts, joints, rod ends, bushings and bolts to do it. Used for 15 passes on my race car.

I think TRW has one. You may have to go to the parts store and get a number to check year, etc. I know they have sold them before for around $160.00.

I would also replace the rag joint shaft with one that has u-joints. They drive alot nicer. That ole rag joint just don't cut the mustard.

Hope this helps.

I appreciate the offer, but that is still a little steep for my pockets right now. Thanks again.

Thats a good price, I'd jump all over that Caymon. I think I have $450 wrapped up in my manual kit. I checked into a stock replacement and the best price I could get was around $220. Thats just for the rack too.

$300 for everything that Brad is selling is a steal.

TRW is a manufacturer of lots of things including automotive parts. Go to your local parts house and have them check their TRW book for the part.

But,

Coupe Devil has a good deal on the Flaming River rack. Id try to get it from him. Even with a TRW rack, add tie rods bushings and your price is going well over 200. $300.00 + shipping is a VERY GOOD DEAL ON "COUPES" RACK. Heck, Id sell off somthing to get that deal

Northern Auto Parts ( they have a website by that name) sells a manual rack for a Fox body. I forget the year they list but it's about 160.00. I believe it's the same TRW unit mentioned above.

Default manual rack

Autozone carries one that sells for $114. You can buy an adapter for it to use your PS steering shaft.

The part's from 79-81 4 cyl. mustangs and Capris. I've got one but it's going into my car. The racks around $120 USD but the tie rod ends (specific to the manual rack) are about $75 apiece.
