429 in a fox?
I was wondering if putting a 429 into a fox body is possible. If so what needs to be changed and any suggest would be great.

It is very possible, There are a ton of foxes out there with 460's . I'm not sure what you have to do. Do u have to shave the shock towers?? anyone?

we put a 460 (514) in my buddies 89lx, it fit fine without any "hacking" all you need is headers, oil pan, motor mounts, trans, and of course a cowl hood.
the car scooted too, went 9.90's on motor on a 10.5 et drag with stock suspension. (untuned) |

Did you have to do anything to the steering shaft? I had to do some major mods to mine when the 351-C went in the 82 GT. Other than that, it fit like it was born there. The C-6 required a little hammerwork on the transmission tunnel but that's another story.

Yeah, I am looking to do the 460 in the fox myself. There are swap kits out there available that include motor mounts, headers, iol pan and some other misc. Everything you need except the tranny. Good luck to you, I can't wait to see what mine does all motor, I am going to try to keep it quiet on the street so she can let go at any time to some unsuspecting ferreri or something.

I wonder if the flaming river steering shaft would provide more clearance.

The C6 in my '87 doesn't come close to touching the tunnel but your '82 may be different. The steering shaft had tons of room but I had to put the flaming river rack on to clear the oil pan, so I got the whole kit with the steering shaft. Can't say for a big block though.
