AFR 185's
I'm planning on supercharging my little 306 this summer. Right now I have a set of Windsor Jrs. on it, but I'm thinking of replacing them with a set of AFR 185's. What will I need to do to put on the AFR 185s? I have forged TRW Flat top pistons (notched).

what compression ratio are u going to yield with the combustion camber difference between the 2 heads? the notches will help for valve clearance, i believe the afr 185 is a 60 cc if im not mistaken, u have to watch the compression ratio with a blower if you are closer to 10.1 compression, then u have to have an intercooler

How can I calculate compression ratio? I'm pretty sure I'm around 10:1 now with the Windsor Jrs 58cc combustion chamber. The AFR 185s come 3 different ways:
185cc Street Head, Stud mount rockers, 58cc chambers; 185cc Street Head, Pedestal mount rockers, 60cc chambers; 185cc Street Heads, Stud mount rockers, 61cc chambers I would either get the 60cc or the 61cc chamber version. Depending on where it will put my compression ratio. Another question is which rocker mounting style is better? |

stud mount is a good setup, pedistals i believe u have to shim up to get the correct geometry, the compression ratio will vary, depends on the piston you are using, but the head chamber size will raise or lower your compression ratio, say u are running a stock piston and head, which i believe is 9.0:1 compression with flattops, if you run a dome piston with the same head your ratio could be 10.2:1, depends on the spec the piston manufacturer gives with certain chamber heads, look it up in summit or jegs, you'll see the different ratios with the chamber sizes....
