Darn CLUTCH!!!!
Ok here we go again i hate posting on the same topic when someone already posted a simular question but.....I was driving home from a buddy of mines house when i was noticeing the clutch felt a lil unusually. It seamed not to be slipping but there was much more slack in the pedal. It is getting very hard to shift aswell. I know it is not the tranny because it is almost brand new and i was having this same problem before I blew the old tranny. Well I was going to just go with a cheap clutch but i guess the 1.7rr can hold off. What clutch do you use. I dont mind a heavy one either. I want one that can handle hard launches on slicks and i havent really looked into clutches that much because there are so many of them out there.
thanks guys sorry about the length

I've got the King Cobra Clutch on my 331 and Tremec 3550 and love it. Easy peddal pressure and great holding power. No problems here.
Previously, I used the stocker until my 331 went in. No problems with that one either, but it was getting close to replacement time and was easier to do the whole tranny, clutch, bell swap at once. Good luck, E

Check The Cable
I have a similar problem....sometimes the clutch cable gets chewed up and frayed where it connects to the clutch fork. This makes it stretch and it can get hard to shift. Its easy to check just by taking out a bolt and looking in under the cover. I would do this before u buy a new clutch.

As for the clutch I've run a Centerforce dual friction clutch for years now with no complaints what so ever. The thing still feels like brand new. I launching on slicks w/ nitrous & it grabs great. I can race the car all day long and the pedal never gets mushy like the stock one used to. My best 60ft. time is a 1.70. Centerforce has my vote. Last edited by Simi Stang; 03-07-2003 at 02:00 PM.. |
