Default by passing air pump

What is the proper routine on by passing the air pump? I know that you use a peace of string to measure around the pulley's and equipement. I am looking for a write up. I'm sure I saw it on this web site before.

try looking at fordmuscle.com the show what size belt you need to bypass just the air pump or all of the other accessories. If your can't find it write back I'll look it up for ya.
