Default Tightening e-brake

How do I do this? I seem to remember there being some sort of bolt to do this near the rear wheels, but I can't find it. Is there a way to do it at the handle also?

You just have to adjust the star adjuster on the rear drums....

That is what i thought, but where exactly is this? Is it actually inside the drum?

yeah its inside the drum....u just have to unscrew it to spread the brake shoes a little more....u should be able to get the drums back on without struggling...but u dont want a lot of clearance either.

you dont have to take the actual drums off, there is a rubber cover on the inside of the brake, you have to look right near where the axle meets the brakes, remove that rubber piece and insert a very skinny flat head screw driver to push a the stopper back and then turn it with a brake adjusting tool, refer to your chilton manual for which direction to turn

Yea, I knew about the slot in the back of the drum. I just wasn't sure at first if you used that same adjuster for the e-brake also. Anyway, it didn't seem like it did much. I think my cable may be too stretched and it is time for a new one. Thanks for the replies!

Adjusting the star adjusters inside the drums only sets the distance of the shoes to the drum. It does not adjust the parking brake. It may have a little effect, but the proper way is below, taken from the Chilton's manual:

ADJUSTMENT
1. Make sure the parking brake is fully released.
2. Place the transmission in N. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
3. Tighten the adjusting nut against the cable equalizer, causing rear wheel brake drag. Loosen the adjusting nut until the brakes are fully released; the wheel should spin with no drag.
4. Lower the vehicle and check the operation of the parking brake.

The cable eqializier is where the two rear cables meet the single cable from the brake lever.

Cool. I have that same manual and read that same section but was unsure as to what the cable equalizer was. I guess I will crawl under there and try that out. Thanks!
