Default 100 octane fuel?

I found a gas station that has 100 octane fuel. Would I notice any benefit trying it in my 89. Or would it be a little to much for it. Plus, if it would see no benefit I would hate to spend $3.50 a gal, on it. Thanks

If your still stock or close to it, save your money. If you've made some mods, especially raising compression, running nitrous, or some kind of forced induction you'll be able to run more timing or more boost, which you will see increased performance from.

More isn't always better! If your running a pretty much stock car or even some light mods then there is NO need to run high octane. To get the best performance you need the quick burn. You should run the lowest grade octane possible without detonation, to achieve the quickest burn possible. If you worried about fuel economy then higher octane is better, cause the burn rate is slower.

Interesting. I always thought the higher the octane the better. On my old pos 4 banger mustang if I used the lowest octane gas, my car would ping.
