Default Best Cam for Stock Heads

What's the best cam for mildly ported stock heads and a Cobra intake with a stock bottomend. The rest of my combo is in my sig. I was thinking either a E cam (.498/.498) or Lunati 51014 (.500/.510)

theres a few comp cams that list as stock replacements u might wanna checkout, but with stock heads even with the bumps gone i'd stick with stock cam until u can get better flowin heads. the cobra intake would do just fine but again i dunno if the heads could keep up with the E. the reason i say that is cuz my old motor was stock cept for headers an the Bcam an my buddy had stock GT which was even with me if not faster.

Stick with the stock cam unless you wanna pick up some HP

I just slapped in an E-cam and believe me I shoulda ditched the stock cam long ago.

1.7 roller rockers might work well for you, that's what i'd go with.

While we're on the subject of cams. The E cam seems to be pretty popular, so I'm assuming it is doing something right. But, I have read numerous times of the piss-poor idle quality that it provides. What exactly are the problems associated with the E303 and idle quality? I am considering getting one, because they are cheap, but I dont want any problems. Also, what about the F303? Is it any better for stock induction than the E303? Thanks folks.

Surging idle issues are hit or miss with the e-303. some get them, some dont.

do you feel lucky?

F-303 is good cam, but its to big for stock heads. e-303 isnt the best for stock heads either. you should just change your cam and heads at the same time.

I think I'm going to put a E cam in it with my 1.7's. (I love the idel of a E cam with 1.7's) I had a E cam in my last motor which was completly stock excapt for 1.7's, E cam, shorty headers, off road h-pipe, Flowmasters, and a cold air kit. It went 13.90 at 100mph with 2.73 gears on radials. The car then weighted 3300lbs with driver. I sold that motor to guy who is now running 12.90's with the same parts I had except for a Cobra intake, 65mm TB, and 3.73's in a full weight GT.

my car with ported E7's and an explorer intake (same as your cobra, almost) and a B303 w/ 1.7s went 12.85@106 on a bad night

people knock the FMS cams all the time, but they arent really THAT bad. Its just that theres better ones out there.

I'm gonna be slapping in a anderson cam soon in mine, wanna buy a used B303?

Let me get this straight...I buy a b cam, 3.73's, 1.7 rockers, port my E7's, slap on my Explorer intake, throw on my BBK longtubes/h-pipe and 65 mm throttle body/egr and drive the crap out of my car and high 12/low 13's are attainable?

12's aren't hard with a T-5 mustang and sticky tires

I don't want to start a new thread, so what size stud do I need for the 1.7's on the E7's?

E7's have pedestal mount rockers. You will have to buy 1.7's for pedestal mount heads, and they will come with all the hardware needed for install.

check your PM's
