too much air (fan problem)
this is kinda strange and I feel silly asking about it here but I have no idea.
So, the under hood noise started getting louder. Sounds like an industrial fan blowing alot of air. It is the cooling fan. The clutch was seized so I figured this was my problem so I replaced that and it is still doing it. I have taken the fan off and ran the engine with all other accessories running and the noise goes away so definatly has something to do with the fan. The actual fan blades look good, no cracks, chips, nothing. Why would it be making so much noise? At idle it's not too loud but anything over 2500 RPM and it sounds like I'm in a wind tunnel thanks guys

I've had the car for about 2 years and just yesterday it started doing this. I have not done or changed anything lately.

Is the new clutch a heavy duty clutch? I know I bought the heavy duty fan and heavy duty clutch, and the first day I drove it, you KNEW air was being moved through the radiator. That had to be the loudest fan setup I have ever heard. I don't even notice it now, but I know its still loud. Just a thought.

nope, it is the regular one. They had the heavy duty one but I didn't think I needed it.
I don't think it is hurting anything but it is kinda annoying. It is now in competition with the offroad H-pipe and dynomax catback for the noise heard in the cockpit. Personally I would rather hear exhaust over engine noise Thanks for the reply, anyone else have any ideas for something I could do?

alright, I guess I'll leave it for a while and see what happens
I was expecting more of a difference between the seized one and the new one

Once the thermostat in the clutch senses the temp increasing, the viscous fluid in your fan clutch starts to drive the fan faster, similarly to the way a torque converter drives a transmission as it approaches lockup. The hotter it gets, the more significant the fan speed becomes and the main purpose the clutch holds on a very hot day is to limit fan speed by slipping as RPMs increase. When moving that much air, as the factory mech. fan and shroud is no slouch, you will have noise. I am running the flex a lite 175, but @ 2300 CFM of air capacity, that is clearly audible when running as well. Get a blower with straight cut gears and that should help your exhaust drown out the noise!
