HI, I HAVE 95GT AODE. I RECENTLY JUST PUT A NEW LONG BLOCK GT-40X INTO IT WITH AN E-303 CAM. WHAT THE CAR HAS IS A CAM, HEADS, DIFFERENT VALVE TRAIN, 30LB INJECTORS, MASS AIR, X PIPE W/CATS, CAT BACK, COLD AIR SYSTEM. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING MY CAR WITH NEW ENGINE FOR LESS THAN 800 MILES. COUPLE PROBLEMS
1. MY BRAKES ABSOLUTLY SUCK. THE DEALER SAYS ITS THE NEW CAM BUT ITS NOT. THE BOSTER LINES ARE HOOKED UP RIGHT AND YEAH THE BRAKES SUCK. I CAN'T EVEN BRAKE TORQUE THE THING TO DO A SOLID BURNOUT. THE PEDAL STIFFINS UP AND IS GIVING ME NO VACCUME. I PUSH THE BRAKE DOWN ALL THE WAY IN SLOW TRAFFIC AND IT HARDLY STOPS. (I ALLREADY GAVE SOMONE A FENDER BENDER :O ) ANY SUGGESTIONS? 2. MY IDLE IS ALL MESSED UP. MOST THE TIME WHEN THE CAR IS NOT MOVING MY CAR IDLES AT ABOUT 500. THAT SEEMS TO LOW. OK WHEN THE CAR IS IN DRIVE AND AND I AM ROLLING THROUGH A PARKING LOT OR SOMETHING IT WANTS TO IDLE AT 1000. I HAVE HAVE MY FOOT ON THE BRAKES AT ALMOST ALL TIMES AND YEAH MY BRAKES SUCK. WHEN ITS MOVING IT IDLES AT NEARLY 25MPH? WTF IS WRONG WITH MY CAR. SECONDLY SOMETIMES WHEN MY CAR IS IN PARK AND I GIVE IT A LITTLE REV. RUST A LITTLE ONE. THE CAR WILL STICK AT ABOUT 3500 RPMS FOR A SOLID 4 SECONDS. DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH THE IDLE OR MY TRANS OPINION: MY TRANS CAN'T HANDLE MY NEW ENGINE. IT SLIPS WHEN ITS WARM WHEN IT SHIFTS. NOT GOOD. I NEED A NEW ONE. I HAVE $1200.00 TO SPEND ON AN AUTOMATIC. I HAVE AN AODE. WILL AN AOD WORK IN MY CAR? I WANT TO FIND A NICE TRANS WITH A TORQUE CONVERTER. WHAT STALL DO YOU THINK I SHOULD GO WITH? 2800? DO YOU THINK MY IDLE PROBLEM WHEN I REV IT HAS TO DO WITH MY TRANS. PLEASE LET ME KNOW YOUR INPUT WITH MY PROBLEMS. I NEED TO GET MY CAR FIXED AS FAST AS I CAN. I HAVE THE MONEY AND EVERYTHING I JUST WANT TO GET THIS THINK MOVING AND TUNED UP HOW IT SHOULD BE. I APPRECIATE ALL THE HELP. For starters, you need to attach a vacuum pump to your booster, and see if it holds vacuum. If it does, then you need to add an additional vacuum can to keep enough vacuum for your brakes to function. This should help your idle as well, but it sounds like you have other issues. You need to start at one end, though, and fix things in order. Start with the suggestions I've made, and post your results.
