Default 460 Swap

Well the time has come where i have decided to leave the 82 as is now and get a project car. It looks like im going to be getting an 88 4 cyl notch and the plan is to put a 460 into it. Has anyone on here done this swap? If so what types of problems did you run into? What can i expect? Im planning on getting all the swap headers and mount but what else is there besides the pan? It will also be going to a Carb.

I don't know about the Great White North but if you plan on driving the thing on the street you had better check w/the pollution Nazi's.

Here it goes from county to county. I have a 78 x-6 banger now 5.8 ford truck and an x 5.0 now 5.8 GT, no problem in Missouri but I couldn't get'm registered in Colorado (I'm in the military and move alot) Originally I'm from Ontario, no pollution control as of when I left (1996). Might want to check your area.

Of course, if your building a race car, I've rambled on for nothing.

I have done most of the swap(put motor in, didn't hook everything up). The advice that I will give you is to make sure you sit down and price everything out. The reason why I stopped my 460 project is because of the cost.

The swap itself isn't overly hard.

Do you know all the parts you need?If not I can tell you
Are you going to go the cheapo way or brand new part way?Because where we live the parts can sure add up.

If you have any specific questions, just ask

P.S.blk88lx were we live, emisions are not enforced at all.
