Do you have an 88 or 98?
An 88 5.0 isn't a modular engine, it's a 302 Windsor... Sending to Windsor Power...

Not a bad mod list. Add intake mod because the stock lower intake is a REAL bottle neck. If you have the money for a stock Cobra intake, it's a great intake for E7 heads. If money is tight I port the stock lower and get very good power - "PM" or "Message" me if you need references.

I would go with an O/R H-pipe but not bassani there stuff is over priced.
3.73 gears are a must Go with the explorer intake it cost half as much as the cobra intake and flows just as good. If you are sticking with the stock heads go with 1 1/2 inch un-equal shorties. I wouldnt bother with a Cold air intake. Theres not much bang for the buck there. Oh yeah, Get some extra rims and a pair of slicks for the track. Its no fun to spend all your money on mods and run a crappy time cause of traction problems.

O/R pipes are not legal ........I like the BBK stuff, Good quality at a fair price, If you must have cats just get an H-pipe with cats.
Ebay is my store of choice

Is O'reillys an auto store? Cuz I don't have any out here (Chicago area) there's Pep Boys and Auto Zone, do you think they would have it? Does the guarantee still count with no cats? Is there an danger is using it to my engine?
What should I ask for when looking for the explorer intake? Upper and lower? Im gonna do the heads and shorties, what brand? I'm thinkin Bassani long tube headers, are long tubes better than shorties? Where can I find the 3.73 gears and what brand? Can I put a K&N on a CAI, cuz I want it to look good too. I hate that air box Last edited by 88GT 5pt0; 06-12-2003 at 01:27 PM.. |

Now this is just my opinion but I believe in a well matched combo. If you are going to go with the explorer intake you might as well get the GT-40P explorer heads. Ford sales some special headers for these heads. regular mustang headers dont fit GT-40P heads. buy your gears new out of Summit. Buy Ford motor sports gears cause they go in the easiest. Most CAI's come with a K&N Filter. I suggest the Mac CAI that puts the filter inside the fender. Thats what I have and it looks sharp. Later.
