Question cold air induction

I want to install a cold air induction system on my stock '92 5.0 GT but there are two kinds. The standard one where the filter is in the engine compartment and the fenderwell type.Which one is best and why?
Thanks in advance

the fenderwell kind is better because the engine bay style sucks hot under hood air for the engine and the fenderwell style sucks cooler air from the fender which gets air from the bottom of the fender.the engine bay style is fine for the track where you dont heat up the engine for long periods at a time.

You might want to go one step further and try one that puts your MAF in the inner fender as well. Its supposed to work great. I just moved mine to that posistion last week when I installed my blower but I havn't had a chance to do any real tuning yet.

mustangs have "cold air induction" in the stock setup, notice how your your airbox is on the fender wall. guess where it sucks air from? thats right, the fender. installing a kit that changes from a panel filter to a conical one (but puts the filter in the engine compartment) will actually make you loose performance (go slower) as you are sucking hotter air. if you insist on one of these kits, moste definently get the one that sucks from the fender. i would suggest simply getting a k&n panel filter (stock style) and use the stock intake tract.
