n/a:
10:1 347, afr 185's, holley intake, and custom cam , trust me, if you dont have the right cam grind, you wont see your #'s. Supporting parts would be 30-36 lb injectors, longtube headers......ect

BilLster- I was thinking about going with a turbo but i am not sure which kit is the best or if the company is even going to ship it, there are alot of rumors going around about turbo company's, Which turbo's and kit are you running? Does the motor get hot? how much boost? what kind of pistons are you running?
The current combo i am thinking about going with it world winsor jr cast iron heads "so i can safely use nitrous" keith black forged pistons, typhoon intake, x303 cam, long tube bbk headers. I dont care if you tell me how you feel about the combo or changes that can be made!!!! that is what i am looking for. Thanks Matt |

If I wa shooting for 400 streetable N/A HP I would use a 351 not a 302. A 351 with a good heads/ cam/ intake package will get you 400 HP easy.

I'd like to think that I am pretty damn close with my combo (in the sig). The ported heads, Crane 2031 cam, and 10.5:1 compression helped out, especially with 100 octane gas! Had I gone ahead and bought a set of AFR heads like I originally wanted, it would have been over 400 easy. I'm estimating 380-390 right now, especially telling the difference with where it was before I built the new engine. I'm leaving it as is though since the car is already ridiculously fast!

blown one way or the other
Matt,
Why would you say no to a supercharger and OK to a turbo? Many supercharger companies are reputable. I like the 351 idea best if you don't want the forced induction. Adding nitrous to a 351 will make you silly fast.

Your making about 290-300 HP @ the flywheel IMO. You basicly have a 93 cobra motor with more compression but worse heads. I am not trying to be an ****** but when I had my stock ported heads and 1.7's I only pulled 252 RWHP and I had every bolt on known to man.

400hp??

Yeah, I agree with Dark_5.0. There's no way you are making anywhere near 400hp with the stock E7 heads even with port work. Your valves are too small. They are choking your combination. I'm running better flowing heads than you are with much bigger valves and I know I'm NO WHERE NEAR 400hp! Just guessing from my numbers and races I've been in...I might be around 320hp at the flywheel. Someday I hope to get her on a dyno and find out for sure. But I'm thinking about ditching my Edelbrock heads & B-303 cam for some AFRs and a custom grind. |

Man, you guys are a tough crowd! Just wanted to add that I was near 300hp before doing some more work on the heads (they also have the 351 valves in them). With the new cam and the boosted compression, it's gone up noticeably! I'll be sure to hit a dyno sometime next Spring.
