How much horsepower and torque gain should i expect if i slap an Edelbrock performer rpm upper n lower intake, and an E303 cam prolly with a new 70mm throttle body on my 94 cobra. 302, (5.0 L). Just curious before i buy. thanx.

Sorry, i couldn't resist Seriously, if you're leaving stock heads on there, they are gonna be a bottle neck. If you threw a good set of heads in there too, I'd say 50 or 60 HP wouldn't be out of the question at all. |

my 2 cents
15 hp...... If you already have a 94 cobra, with a Cobra intake and the cobra cam is .479/.479 lift..... the E-cam is only .498/.498 lift.
I wouldnt even waste the time or money to change them. You wont see much difference in the Edelbrock intake, from the cobra, 5hp? Also you'll probably only get 10-15hp from the Cobra cam to the E-cam. You should get some good Aluminum heads/bigger cam or a blower next. |

not all correct T.
the cobra already has 1.7 roller rockers, thus making the e-cam .529/529, like my setup, and the duration blows the cobra cam away with the sound and performance as well. also he has gt-40 heads, and they have been known to work well with an b or e-cam, especially ported. My advice, get a 12 pack of beer one day, pull them heads off, take them in for some dual springs, 3 angle valve job (if high milers).... and some porting. also, clean that cobra intake up a little, i realize machine work can be costly, but an extrude hone would be worth it imo, or toss the cobra for a holley, and outflow the cobra even if it was ported. But yea a set of afr 165's, or tfs's heads would put a smile on your face i guarantee it

oh yea, the performer rpm is great for a motor with a good valvetrain and healthy cam, being it is for 1500-6500 rpm, and will blow the cobra out of the water, but not with supporting parts...ie heads/cam.
but great thing about the edel is the fact that you can always swap the upper if you decide to go with a higher reving motor.....ok i'll stop babbling, it's early and im lost.... |

The cam change may be worth it, but if you don't improve the GT40 heads with porting, no need to port the Cobra intake or change manifolds as the heads will be the limitation. After working/changing the heads, the Cobra lower can be ported to keep up with heads up to about 250cfm for a reasonable cost (~$130-140). No need to do extensive owrk to the upper either. Extrude Hone is a lot more expensive - $500 for both upper and lower or $250 each. 300cfm can be had from the Cobra if you want to pay for lots of welding and porting, but why? - just go aftermarket past about 250cfm.

I agree with tmoss. And there are far better cams now available out there than the Alphabet cams from Ford, like the XE series from comp, the crane cam 2030 series as well. Swap the ehads out for some AFR's pr TFS heads with the recommended intakes.
