Cool New heads on.

Finally got them on. They pull like crazy. I may get to the track on Wed.

The reason I am posting is this, I had a few small problems, and mabey my bad will do good for you.
1. no torque wrench on hand.
2. Checked PTV clearance, didn't check push rod lenght. Had to address that after the fact.
3.Crossed 3 & 4 plug wires.
4. tried to set timing with spout connector still in place.
5.Ran out of gas on test run because gas guage don't work.

I laught at all of my little problems but they where present because of my own dumb mistakes. The only resaon I put it on here is to say, Fellas and Gals, take your time, plan your work, and avoid the silly time costly things.

Glad to hear you got it worked out, what heads did you get? brand?
Yea, i been under the hood of stangs for some time now, but still make mistakes as all humans do, i will tell ya though, im sure you know, but i would never bolt heads on without a torque wrench that would be certain faliure, i however never torque my intakes, i have that built into my arms

This reminds me, last week putting on a typhoon intake for my buddy....lol, we stabbed the distributor and went to fire it up, eargerly waiting, it started up with a severely high idle, after checking all kinds of vaccuum, and fearing a gasket slipped, i look over and notice the maf sensor wasnt plugged in lol...it's the little things that baffle us sometimes..

take care, oh yea, are you cutting 1.5 60' on a stock differential?

I just put the smallblock back in my van last week. After I got everything bolted up (almost) I realized I had 6 converter bolts, OH WAIT, those are for the flywheel that I forgot to put on first. I was pretty pissed, that set me back a few hours and I had a flight to florida leaving at 6:30 am the next morning. The car had to be moved before I left cause my parents are moving, I was up til 2:30 until I got it to run and drove it over to my girlfriends parents house, then slept for about an hour before i had to get up and get everything ready to leave.

lol dang, yea i lost plenty of sleep just trying to get my car running/finished so i can go to work.....another one i hate is, and it never fails, if my shifter is off the t-5, for whatever reason, i alsways frickin forget to put the lower boot in place, so then i have to unscrew the knob, and pull the upper back off, yea not a big problem, but it is when i do it EVERY TIME!! lol

We just did that on my friends (my old car) 86 GT, I'm pretty sure I've done it a few times before also. When I was putting my motor together last week I figured I'd leave the oil pump shaft out until for a while so it wouldn't fall out everytime I turned the engine upside down, but luckily I looked at the shaft and realized it needed to go in first before I put the oil pan on and put it in the car, that would have been a b*tch to get in then.
