I have had several different starters in my car. They all make a little different sound when starting up, but like 88workcar said, their only job is too spin the engine. Startup time really won't be affected by different starters, unless of course one is bad and can barely turn the engine over.

Was your old starter bad, or were you just replacing it trying to fix another problem?
