Default VICTORY!!! Balancer Removal and Damage Photos...

Let me start by saying,

Ok, here's what was left of the balancer....

Pulley configuration...

See that pointy piece in the middle? On my pulley kit, it's detachable, at first, I made the mistake of not using it, and I only succeeded in what amounted to bolting the pully plate to the crank!

Here's what happens when the weighted part of the balancer breaks off and slams into your timing cover. Thank goodness I was only going about 20mph when it let go... Nonetheless, there's a small fracture on cover, enough for oil to squirt around...

Here's my "homemade" lift!

My patient for this operation...

And, an inside shot...

Damn, only been down for two weeks, and I'm having serious withdrawls...

Thank you all for your help! In return, I took the time to take and post these pics. I hope these photos can help someone out when the time comes!

I had to change mine out a few months ago. Luckily, mine let go when I cranked her up one morning before work. Freaked the hell out of me...the whole car just started rattling. Since I wasn't rolling when she let go, there was no damage to anything else.

I thought the same thing happened a few weeks ago, but it turns out I lost 3 blades off of my Black Magic.

What a PITA to remove the fan blade assembly!!! I ended up drilling holes on either side of the fan shaft and pulled that sucker apart!

Damn! That's an extreme removal if I've ever heard of one! Glad you sorted it all out though...

*Wince....*

Sorry to hear about the troubles.

Is that a stack of cinder blocks under your wheels? I've used bricks before as well, but never again. Had a friend who had the front on jack stands with the rears on bricks. He was lying on his side underneath his mustang lengthways with is head/shouders under the engine/transmission area. The bricks crumbled and the jack stands were knocked over when the back wheels bounced. The weight of the car compressed his lungs so he couldn't cry out for help. Luckily his brother was inside and heard the car fall and was able to pull him out. Some bruised or cracked ribs and some shoulder problems were all that it cost him, but that's some scary stuff.

Anyway, not to be a prude, because I've done it myself....

Actually, they're solid "garden" stones made of cement that can be found at the local Homeless Despot. Their dimensions are roughly 16"x8"x2", it's wide enough as to where I'd say about 95% of the tire foot print rests on the slab. I have wheel chocks as well to prevent any rolling in addition to e-brake and being in gear.

The only downside is, it takes a while to build up a good height as my jack can only lift it enough to place 2 slabs, thus, I have to jack up each end of the car a bunch of times. Time consuming, but worth it for the piece of mind.

Haha...yeah, I know what you mean. You need a good floor jack placed under the pumpkin and some jack stands. So do I.

Christmas maybe??
