Default 347 Questions

I was looking at the block goin into my car and it had XXX stamped on it does anyone know what this means or stands for, also Im gonna be transfering some parts over and wanted to know a good fuel set up for the 347. On my list are the 255in tank fuel pump, and 24#ers but will stock fuel rails be fine, im gonna be spraying a 100-150shot on this motor and want to take care of any problems before its complete.

xxx is just plant that the block was made.. there are also some yyy blocks.

255 pump is going to be plenty for 500 horses.. the 24's will be ok for a mild 347 but i have 42's on my little 302 and they seem to be best for it.... but every combo is different. in my opinion there is NO reason to go with a 347 rather than a 302 or 306 because the 302 or 306 can easily make 500+ hp

the weak point u run into there is the block.. there are so many ppl out there thats running good internals on stock blocks, not realizing that they will never realize the potential of the parts they have because of the limits the block.

i have a 14k dollar 347 with aftermarket block and all the bells and whistles.. and i have a 1000 dollar 302 with stock block and internals..

sure the 347 is faster but not more fun.. i've run the 302 close to 10's in the 1/4 for 2 years now. way fun and if it blows i can still walk away smiling..

the 347 blows up and i'm gonna cry!!!!!!!!!!!! for a long time.

anyway a cheap alternative is a 351.. do a search on corral for brad and see my post for selling my 351 it might intrest you.

i run a 347 with a 255 lph pump and 42# injectors, work great! i wouldn't use any less than 36# injectors if i were u.

Well the 347 he already had so im not payin more then if I went with a 302 hes a great mechanic and ive known him for years and im gettin a deal but as for the bolts on there all mild such has a trick flow street heat upper and lower intake to ported gt40p heads and just shorty headers, the NOS is for those one or two times a year I take it to the track.
