Default Major Problem Need Help

I have a 91 gt that is basically stock and i got a set of 4.10s installed yesterday. It drove good all day untill about 20 mins ago when i was driving and it lost all the power and cut out. Then let it set for about 10 mins and ran fine but did it again 5 mins later. Now when I go to start it, it runs for like 15 secs and cuts out. I am thinking something with the gears b/c this never happened before. Please, any suggestions would help.

I do believe its just a coincedence, did they have the battery disconnected when they did the gears. Sounds like a loose cable or something like that. Possibly coil or module giving out on you also. Of course with the new found launching power you may have jarred something loose

Yeah, check battery connections first. Also might be a dying fuel pump. Does the pump still cycle when you turn the key every time? And if so, does it sound different (louder or higher) than before?

yeah, i think it mite be something with the fuel. I have a fuel leak and was told my sending unit could be going bad. It is pretty loud but i don't think as loud as it was. Don't know. Just took the car for a ride, and it drove fine. Maybe just a fluke, but hopefully i will find out. Thanks

Here's what happened with my fuel pump. It would run great, for a while. After a good drive (usually with lots of highway cruising), the pump would overheat, crap out, and then leave me stranded. Ran fine on the highway, but at the first traffic light or the first time I slowed down, the pump would start to drop pressure. I verified this with a fuel pressure gage. When it died, it wouldn't build or hold any fuel pressure until it cooled down. I would have to let it sit for 20-30 minutes before it would run for any amount of time. Starting it up when the pump was hot resulted in it not starting at all or running for a few seconds (or a few minutes, depending on how much it cooled down) before the car stumbled, stalled, and died again.

And that was with an aftermarket pump.

So I put a new Holly in and all is well. Put a fuel pressure guage on it and see what's happening.
