sump'ed tanks and/or 1/2" pick-ups

I'm trying to figure out how to get gas out of my tank with this new carbed set-up.

Has anybody ever run a stump'ed tank on a car that regularly see's street duty. How streetable is it?

Does anybody know of a pick up with 1/2" pickups?

A sumped tank is very streetable. You cant really see it in the picture, but it doesnt really hang down far at all. A friend of mine is switching to a cell this year and might have his for sale.

I was thinking that Holcomb or Dallas Mustang had an aftermarket pickup that was bigger than stock, but I dont think it was 1/2".

Depending on the pump setup, you may want to sump the tank and gravity feed the pump.

That's what I'm doing. I have a Holley Blue and -8 line throughout my fuel system. Here's a pic of what the sump setup looks like. I had recently changed the filter, so I didn't have it bolted up at that point. I used an Earl's -8 shutoff valve right out of the sump, and looped the -8 line to the filter. Makes it into a resevoir for the pump to suck from. The theory was to make sure the pump never runs dry.

Hope that helps. I drive the car quite often, and never had any problems with that setup. I only worry about getting rear-ended (yes the inertia switch is hooked up and working) or backing over a really tall parking curb.

Well this is gonna be my daily driver, I was just worried about fuel flowing away from the pick-up during braking.

As long as the tank is properly baffled you won't have any problems with running out of fuel unless you run less than a 1/8 tank often. That can be a problem during braking while going down a steep hill, but I've never ran into that.

I have a 1/2" in-tank pickup if you need one, Josh.... it's new, with a -10 pickup and a -6 return. I was going to use it, but ended up going with a fuel cell.
