Question Ported GT40x bigger cam more compression pump gas help ?

How good is this set up ? if I went to like say a 550 " cam with fully ported GT40x heads and like 10.0:1 compression. Would this be able to run on pump gas still ? And what kind of horsepower/torque could I be realisticly making to the wheels including my other mods? Any other combo suggestions ?

Ford racing 5.0 Long block, GT40X heads, B-303 cam, Cobra 1.7 Roller Rockers, Edelbrock RPM"airgap" intake, 625 cfm Road Demon Carb, Hooker Super competition Headers, Flo-tech Exhaust, T5 tranny car @ 2500 lbs

Just a thought to keep in mind when trying to calculate compression and different cam combos.

Static compression is good for a relative mechanical starting
point, but the Dynamic compression is what will determine the streetable performance or being able to use pump gas.

The intake valve closing time (in degrees after bottom dead center) is where the Dynamic Compression is calculated from, and this ratio is critical. Seems alot of cams close the intake around 40*ABDC.

If you already have your long block built..before you buy a cam, Do a google search on Dynamic compression and figure out which cam will give you an exceptable DCR for the street. You should be able to find a DCR calculator from there.

That's very similar to my setup. I've got a 5.0 with Edelbrock heads, ported, TFS stage 2, approx. 10:1, Air gap intake, 625 Road Demon, etc.

Putting my latest track numbers through the analyzer at roughly 3350lbs at 12.65@109 I'm making approx. 330hp at the rear wheels if that's what the analyzer means. This is a good street/strip setup. I recently drove to the track, made several runs, and back (total of 365kms, 225miles) on a tank of gas. I'm happy with that because I wasn't easy on the car for the trip either.

I think you'd enjoy it, and with a lighter car, traction may become quite a problem.
