Question DO I need wheelie bars?

How much torque and horsepower does it take to pull a wheelie? I have an 85 gt that weighs 2850 w/driver. Going to a 393 stroker hoping to put out about 450 RWHP. I launch at 4000rpm with a glide. I also have the tubular front end, coil over fronts, and adjustable uppers and lowers in the rear with 26x10 slicks. Just trying to guess if I need to invest in some bars. I don't want to buy them if I don't need any, but don't want to drag my rear bumper either. I don't have any idea, just looking for some input from guys that run similar set up. Thanks

Nope. Though the 393 should make some nice torque, you're not in the range where they'll be necessary yet. You'll be pulling the wheels off the ground a bit, but nothing wild.

You will not need them and if you do you have allot more then 450rwhp with a killer chassis tune

Like everyone else said, if your chassis is set up right, you will not need them.

What I want to know is why you are only looking for 450 rearwheel out of a 393. Listen to what Jeff has to say, and you'll be making 650 at the wheels n/a. That is, if he'll tell.
