Default Best Place to Buy Pistons/Stroker kits

does anybody know of a good place to buy stroker kits or pistons. have a small situation where i want a bigger cam and new heads. the block is a stock 351 bored 40 and i was thinking if i have to replace pistons, why not just build a stroker.

I purchased my kit from DSS Racing. However, there are lots of places like Coast High Perf. (CHP) - a.k.a. Probe Industries, or SCAT Crankshafts which now sells complete stroker packages.

Guys, who else am I forgetting?

Lunati, Ford Performance Parts(not my first choice). Do you have a 5.0 or a 4.6? I'm assuming that you have a 5.0, seeing as how that 4.6s don't really have a whole lot of choices. YOur best bet is to figure out what you will be doing with the motor first. i.e., Blower, turbo, N2O, or NA. then you need to decide which displacement you want. For my money, you can't go wrong with a 331. You get the power of a 347 with the ring life of a 306. Don't let anyone tell you that a 347 gets good ring life either. The piston rings, no matter how you look at it are going to wear out long before a 331. The piston has greater side loading in a 347 than in a 331, not to say that a 331 doesn't have issues with this either.

From my experiance, you'll get roughly 60K miles out of a 347 ring set and about 80K out of the 331.

Just my opinion. Frankly, for the amount of money you will be spending anyway, why not try to find a 351 block and build a 392 or a 408. You'll still have the ring issues but with the power you'll generate, who cares?

Wow, I just wrote a book huh? Sorry dude. If you need some help later on making a decision, feel free to call or email me. If you need my phone number, just PM me and I'll give it to you.

420nitro, are you from Rockford, IL? If so, I haven't seen your car around town or at Byron Dragway.

That's right, I live in Rockford, IL and I am also new to the area. As goes for the dragstrip, I havn't been there with the new set-up,... just finished the car and working out all the bugs. Should be ready by Spring.
Do you live in the Rockford Area? Let me know, I was told by the speed shops there's no fast Mustangs in Rockford. (10's or faster.)
If you do cool.
Let me know it would be cool to know somebody with some serious stuff besides myself.

Another vote for AD Performance. That's where I'm getting my forged rotating assembly from.
