Default My combo- 400+ n/a hp ?

I would just like to know what it would take to bust out around 400 + n/a horsepower from my car. If I ported out everything ,bumped the compression to 10.1, and stroked it do you think I could have 400 + horsepower at the wheels ? How much n/a horsepower you guys think is possible with my mods if modded? And could anyone help me out with putting my mods/times apear everytime I post ? I cant figure it out. Thanks

(9.0:1 pistons, Gt40 X heads,B-303 Cam, Cobra 1.7RollerRockers,Edelbrock RPM "Air Gap"intake,Road Demon 625 cfm carb,Hooker Super competition Headers,Flo-tech exhaust offroad H pipe,SuperDuty T5 )

You MIGHT hit 400 horsepower, but not at the wheels. To get 400 horsepower at the wheels you'll need a LOT better induction setup than Ford heads and a B cam. That is a lot of power from a 302-based engine, stroked or not (especially not). I personally would sell the X heads and invest in a better set to go with the new rotating assembly...such as a set of milled AFR 185's with the spring upgrade, or even out of the box Canfields or Vic. Jr's for that power level.
That B cam will definitely have to go also.

I'd say with a 306, it would take something like:
a set of Afr 185 heads
10 to 1 compression (min)
Your intake (air gap) or victor jr.
650 speed demon carb. (no bigger)
1 3/4 long tubes with a 3 inch exhust
comp cam extreme 274 hr cam

If you were to stroke the engine it would only only make it easier to make the power goal you have. Now don't forget that tuning is worth more then anything! If your tune is off you aint going to make shyte.
So a good ignition and dist. is needed as well with someone who knows how to play withe carb.
This should get you at least 400 h.p at the flywheel. To get this at the wheels...well thats a different story to many varables. It all depends if you are going to stay 5-speed or go to auto, tight converter or loose converter and which dyno you are going to get on.

Some people say that i'm already at 280-300 at the wheels now. So by bumping the compession to 10.1, stroking it to a 331/347 porting out the heads and intake, and a 550" cam I wouldnt add another 100 horse or so mabye? I would think the 347 would give me about 40 hp, 10.1 compression 10, porting 20, cam 20 etc.

I wish it worked that way...but it doesn't. But hey, if you think it is that easy then go for it. Go ahead and spend your money.
Ask your self this...Do you honestly think that a pair off Gt-40x heads are sufficient for a built 347?????
Having more compression, bigger cam and porting doesn't give you more horsepower unless it all works together as a package.
As goes for somebody telling you how much horsepower you should have....the KEY word is "Should". Dyno your car and check. You might find that your off tune and fix it, then be happy with your new found power.
P.S
In my opinion you MIGHT make another 40-50 total horsepower because you did all of those up up-grades as a whole...remember it's a package deal.

With everything you have listed I would think you will make around 350 to 360rwhp if it is tuned right.

If you want 400 or more get the right heads, cam, and 347 kit and it should be no problem.

As for what you have right now if it is tuned right, I would think you should have around 280 to 300 pretty easy.

420nitro is right on the money.

Man, I wish I could go back in time and wait for that motor. I should have asked around more about the Ford Racing gt40 long block. I have read that those gt40x heads are made to be ported out for semi-high horsepower. After all this is basicly a dayly driven car anyway. If I were goin for a 600 + horsepower small block I wouldnt go with ford racing products. Still wondering if the 600 hp crate motor would be a cool deal. I would take off the cobra jet heads and slap on some super cobra jets gain a little horsepower then get a bigger cam and hook up some nitrous. But I really like the idea of small blocks with big block power.
