Dr gas x pipe
I am looking at getting one to match the longtubes. From the looks of it, you get the crossover pipe and some exhaust tubing and you have to finish the rest of the exhaust system. I just wonder, will I be able to bolt on my cat back or will I have to fabricate my whole exhaust? This is no big deal to me. I am looking for feedback from anyone who has this.

When you get the kit from dr.gas you have to cut it down to fit your car. And no you will not need your flow tubes either. You either have to have your 3 bolt flange welded on your pipe (for the header collector) or you can by a slip over clamp. I did the slip over style. It comes stainless, and I have never had leakes or ever had to buy gaskets! The only thing you will need is turn downs. Hope this helps. |

You have an exhust tube that is approx. 12 inches long that bolts to the muffler. That tube also bolts to the h-pipe. In a cat back kit, you get two mufflers, two flow tubes and two turn downs or two tail pipes along with the bolts and nuts (hardware) and hangers. When you get the x-pipe kit from dr.gas you will most likely get 4 long tubes (pre-bent) (which will also have to be cut down to fit)and the x-pipe junction. Two of the tubes will go directley to the mufflers. So you will have to remove the "flow tubes" that came with your original cat-back. Or at least that is what had to be done with my 3 inch exhust. And no I did not have to deal with Dr. Gas directly, you can speak with "Neil" at Dr. Gas if you want, or call Panhandle Performance for the x-pipe. (they are a direct dealer for them) And that is what I did. Good Luck |

Screw that just get a BBK X-pipe or a MAC Pro-Chamber that will bolt right in.

yep, you can do that too.
I went with Dr.gas because nobody had 3.5 to 3.0 inch x-pipe. Or even bigger x-pipe. (I was considering a 3.5 all the way back at first.) |

With the Dr. Gas 3.5 to 3 inch x-pipes (for longtubes-BBK), where does the pipe go from 3.5 to 3"? Also, does it bolt up to the collecters or slip on? Stock location hangers (79-93)? I'd like to use BBK longtubes with a 3" x-pipe /mufflers/turndowns.

I have the 3.5" to 3" Dr. Gas X-pipe on my car. It has 3.5" collectors and bolts to the headers. The size change happens right after/thru the X... The X-pipe is really a kit and comes disassembled. It has extra length to the pipes so that you can size it for your needs. There are no "hangers", but I suppose you could fabricate some if you feel it is necessary.

420nitro, thanks for clearing that up. I am not hell bent on getting a dr gas x pipe. It's just that everyone else has the bbk and mac. I wanted something different. I am sure they all sound the same when hooked to the exact same mufflers and headers anyway.

That is why I chose dr gas. Good Pic. Do you think that it would sound better or worse if I just made my own exhaust from the headers back. Just use the flowmasters and bend some exhaust tubing and make a side exit exhaust? Do you think it would lose power or make power? I am seriously thinking of doing this.

Dr gas x-pipe will make more power,...period!
And it will also sound better using the x-pipe too, IMO. |

Are the Dr. Gas x-pipes (2 1/2") noticably better than the BBK cnc series X-pipes?

It shows on their site that they have one to bolt up to shorty headers/flowtubes. I'm just wondering if it's worth paying a little more for it when I can go get a BBK at jegs (about 10 min. from where I live) for cheaper and not have to wait to be shipped.
