Elevation Difference??
Howdy,
So I haven't had a chance to run my stang and the track yet, and I'm planning on some work done her this month. I'd like to have a base to compare against, but without having run it yet, it'll be hard to see what kind of gains I've seen. I'm in Salt Lake City (school.. from DC) so the elevation is very high (4400 ft). I'm currently running an 86GT(88 motor and front end) with a ported lower stock intake, 5 speed manual, well-tuned motor, and stock everything else except very minor bolt-ons like K&N and 65mm T.B. ... Street tires and I'm a pretty well-experienced driver. WHat kind of times would I expect to see @ this elevation so I can have a base for comparison. THanks for any advice or links.

I have this software that tells me. When you run your car, you can pm me and I will tell exactly what it should run at sea level. Example: 13.60@102 (sea level) 14.18@95.6 (@4400 ft) Hope this helps |

If you're expecting low 14's in Salt Lake I suspect you will be VERY disappointed. I would say low 15's.
I have a friend running a heads/cam 5.0L there with a 75 shot of nitrous and he goes 13.6 @ 106 which is moving for that altitude. |

I race at over 4400ft sometimes here in West Texas so I can relate to your problem.
This may help you some. Here is what the 88GT I used to have ran and the mod levels it was at. Stock 88GT convertible 5 speed................ 15.20 @88mph 2.2 60ft exhaust, headers and gears......................14.79 @93mph 2.2 60ft explorer intake and ported stock heads.....14.46 @97mph 2.2 60ft Slicks, pulleys, 65mm TB and tri ax shifter...13.66 102mph 1.7 60ft All of these times were ran at atleast 4000ft of altitude.

I love complaining about my altitude too! The track I run at is right at 4,100' and in the summer with the 100*+ weather makes it even more exciting. Keep one thing in mind when you go to the track, the thin air makes a HUGE difference with your times, so don't be dissapointed if you run in the 15's. When I first bought my car, with exhaust and 3.55's the best I could muster on street tires was a 15.03 @ 92.3 and that was with the back seat and passenger seat taken out. I now run a 13.4 @ 102 in hopes of my 12.99 with stock heads and cam by spring. One site that may help you out with the conversion is: http://www.smokemup.com/auto_math/nh...on_factors.php
