Default Momentary engine cutout

What does this sound like to you...

I was cruising (possibly accelerating a little) down a local road this morning, 4th gear roughly 1700-1900 rpms, and engine power cuts for a brief moment. I't wasn't even long enough for me to look around to see what was going on. I think the tach was steady and had nearly a full tank of gas and a pretty new fuel filter. The motor was warm.

I do also have a spark knock/ping problem unless I run premium fuel and no more than 8-10 degrees initial timing. Even then I still get occasional knock.

Come to think of it, I am probably a bit overdue for a tune-up. Wires, cap and rotor are 2+ years old...plugs are about a year or less.

I'll have to check the wire resistance, anyone know how many ohms/foot for stock wires?

All comments are welcome.

Thanks,

Rich D.
