I found this evening that my TPS is bad. The only number on the entire thing is this: PBT-GF30. I am trying to find a replacement, and there appear to be two different applications. Can someone explain what the difference is between the two? Does it even matter??

Just go to the autoparts store and ask for a TPS sensor. I went to autozone and there was only one that they carried and it works fine.

Hope I was of some help.

O.K, I installed the new TPS. The car WILL NOT idle. I have clocked the mass air several different ways. I have tried cleaning the IAC. I have reset the computer. I have checked, the best I could, for vacuum leaks. No difference! I even cleaned and open the 10 pins. This thing is surging so bad, it won't idle long enough for me to get out of the car and look under the hood. What the hell can I do?

Did you unplug your IAC? If so, did your idle surging change?

Do you have a IAC spacer? Any other codes? What TPS did you get? (It does matter, 94-95's used different colored wires) The truck tps' are different than five-ohs and even those are different. Did it start surging out of the blue or after you did some maintenance? Did you check manifold vacuum?

I had the upper off of the car, for maintenance. I had sporadic surging before the upper was taken off, but nothing close to this. This may be a dumb question, but where is the best place to read the manifiold vacuum? What is a specific range that would be acceptable? I am running a trickflow R upper and lower.

Sounds like you didn't get a good seal re-installing your upper manifold.

I am not familiar with the TF intake, but look for a vacuum source "t" fitting or tree with some prongs coming from under the plenum. All you do is plug a rubber fitting attached to a hose with a vacuum gauge and look for something around 10-12 inches/Hg. Vacuum depends on your cam, idle rpm, etc. You can get a guage for $12-$15 complete with various fittings and a hose from Advance, Pep Boys, Napa, etc... They are handy to have around. Take some PB with a fine spray tip extender and put some around the seal between your upper and lower. I have heard of some guys putting clay around the perimeter of the seal between the intakes and quickly finding the source of a leak. Good luck.

If it's any consolation, I buy intake gaskets in lots of 10 b/c it seems like I take mine off once a week.

I get to take it off today to replace valve cover gaskets that are leaking like sieves. Joy. I think heaven is full of 10 second daily driver Mustangs that you never have to work on...

For what it's worth, I have been real happy with my R intake. This thing pulls strong to redline. I got the thing practically new for $350. I thought it was to good a deal to pass up.
